The Reality on the Ground

About SughaVazhvu

SughaVazhvu Healthcare

Sughavazhvu Healthcare, a Section 8 not-for-profit healthcare initiative, is working with Excel Healthcare, a unit of Excel Group, to establish a comprehensive cancer care centre in Tiruchirappalli. The initiative is designed to address the growing oncology burden across Central Tamil Nadu and surrounding regions by improving access to timely, affordable and quality cancer care.

For many families, cancer treatment currently means repeated travel to metropolitan cities, delayed diagnosis, interrupted treatment schedules, financial pressure and emotional distress. Sughavazhvu Healthcare has been created to reduce this burden by bringing advanced cancer diagnosis, treatment and continuity of care closer to the communities that need it most.

The upcoming centre is envisioned as a regional cancer care hub, offering integrated services across diagnosis, radiation oncology, chemotherapy, surgical oncology, recovery support, palliative care and survivorship. With donor and CSR support for critical oncology equipment, the institution aims to create long-term clinical capacity and transform cancer care access for thousands of patients and families.

The proposed SughavazhVu Healthcare Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre, located on the Sooriyur, Tiruchirappalli District, is a 75-bed facility serving Central Tamil Nadu. With expected operational readiness in June 2027, the centre is committed to providing compassionate, affordable, evidence-based cancer care, making advanced oncology services accessible to underserved communities closer to home.
